Brittany Foster has performed with APO as their Principal Flute and as a featured soloist.

Beyond APO

An avid orchestral musician, Brittany Foster has performed in orchestras across the globe. She’s served as principal flutist of the China National Opera in Beijing, China, principal flutist of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, contracted auxiliary flutist with the Louisville Orchestra, second flutist of the Louisiana Sinfonietta, and is currently Principal flutist with the United States Navy Band. In 2019 she was a featured soloist on the Navy Band’s national tour, and has been a soloist with the American Pops Orchestra on numerous occasions.

A prize winner of several national music competitions, she won 1st prize in the National Flute Association’s Orchestral Excerpts Competition in New York City, 1st prize in the Chicago Flute Club’s Young Artist Competition, 1st prize in the Midsouth Flute Society Young Artist Competition, as well as 2nd prize in the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition. She was a winner in the Sewanee Summer Music Festival concerto competition, where she performed as a soloist with the faculty orchestra.

Brittany has attended the Cincinnati Flute Symposium, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, the Chautauqua Institute Summer Music Festival, and was a fellowship recipient for the inaugural season of CCM Spoleto Music Festival in Spoleto, Italy.

Favorite APO Moment

Being featured as a soloist on “I Will Always Love You.” I had just gotten married the day before, and performing it felt like a love letter to my new husband who was in the audience.
